Teaching Informatics

General aspects: Informatics in Education. ICT as a means of knowledge, research and learning in various scientific disciplines. Basic concepts and terminology used in the teaching of Informatics. Teaching topics: traditional teaching approaches, approaches based on modern learning theories, learning disabilities in basic concepts of Informatics, examples of lesson plans and activities. Course structure: teaching models, didactic objectives, expected outcomes, instructional techniques, design of teaching. Assessment: aims and objectives, functions, assessment/evaluation tools, feedback. Teaching problems and teaching interventions in the use of ICT. IT Teaching for students with disabilities and/or special needs. Use of the Internet for covering student’s educational needs and lifelong learning. Distance learning via new technologies. Acquaintance with basic pedagogical theories. Informatics in education. Policies and incorporation of informatics in the educational systems of Greece and other European countries.
